After finding this: http://www.convertibars.com/HowItWorks.cfm
and discovering they're not cheap.....I figured it's time to visit the
machine shop again.....
2006-04-15: Raised clip-ons - Part 1: They're made
from
scrap pieces of 304 stainless steel tubing found at my friend's machine
shop.

Finishing the job didn't happen until weeks later when I finally had time to work
on it.... here's the results:
This shot is taken from the top of the rear cowl.

Those aluminum clamps were machined from a 3 inch wide piece of 1 inch
thick aluminum. The bolts are stainless (and yes, I did use anti-sieze
compound on the threads).

The only way to run the new braided stainless brake line was this.....
however, with some surgery to the master cylinder and a
different brake line it could have gone around the front. All
I can say about the brake feel now is WOW! Rock solid lever combined
with instant and strong braking response.

I still need to make a nice looking cap for that left one. The right
side is capped by the brake fluid reservoir bracket.

End result: Bike is now very comfortable to ride!
